Quilt For Niki

I am going to go visit my grand daughter on Monday. She just had a new baby boy to go with her little girl.
Now I think that is the perfect little family. I have given this precious grand daughter a couple of quilts through the years and she takes such good care of them. I decided to give her one of my favorite quilts. I made this beauty several years ago for my husband. Most quilters will know the name as the double wedding ring. I know that Niki will love the colors. She and her husband are both working and going to school too, a very ambitious young couple. Congratulations darling. Nana Loves You!!

T-Shirt Quilt Valentine Surprise

This man's wife had this made for him as a Valentine surprise. Men really dig their collection of t-shirts especially if they are into sports or some kind of hobby. They collect them, wear them, save them and prize them. I have found that they really like these quilts made from their tees also. Something to do with their ego or validation, I really can't figure it out but these quilts are fun to make and guys like them and so do gals.  Take a look at what I did with his Cub Scout shirt.

Marathon Runner's Quilt

This man is a marathon runner or least he use to be. I really don't know if he still runs now or not. He had his precious t-shirt collection in the garage and his wife told him he had to get them out of there so here they are. I recycled them into a wonderful "One of a Kind" Treasure for him to enjoy for a very long time. That is better than keeping them in a box where you can't enjoy them. I also made him a pillow out of the extra shirt. I hope he likes it. I had fun making it for him. He did tell me his grandmother was a quilter.

When my sisters and I were very young all three of us loved to make things. I think that was the way kids entertained themselves in those days. Our mother sat us down with old clothes and needles and thread and we made our dolls clothes.
My creativity grew from there and I found myself in high school making all of my own clothes. I did get a lot of attention with my matching outfits including hats. Since I was shy maybe that was my way of creating my own world and at the same time getting attention.
I finally did get tired of making clothes and went into quilting. The first year I quilted I made every family member quilts, quilts and more quilts.
You can only make so many quilts and so many bags before you have no space left. What is a very nutty creative person going to do about this?? Well you are going to open an ETSY shop and sell some of this stuff, right?? http://fabricartist21.etsy.com/
My neighbor asked me to make her a T-Shirt Quilt and I have been doing that for over a year now. I take special orders through my Etsy shop. I have become very busy with this business and will continue to create t-shirt quilts as long as their are customers that want them.
